Google ‘Decluttering’ The First Results Page Through Featured Snippets!

The featured snippets will not be repeated on the 1st page!

If your website is showing on the first page as a featured snippet, it will not be repeated on the first page of Google search, going forward!

Interesting! Right?

The reason given by Google is that this is to declutter the first page!

This was tweeted by Danny Sullivan @dannysullivan.

This has been rolled out globally, he further mentioned in a tweet.

I really think this is a good step. If you have noticed, snippets, many times, are of the page which is further down the position. So, in reality, it is coming twice on the first page! I always found this to be a bit unfair! This always seems unfair as snippets drive a lot of traffic! And the top-ranking page link, even with great SEO, loses on a sizable share of traffic!!

Now the snippet will become one of the 10 search results on a page!

It would be interesting to see, however, how the search console would handle the changes!

Google Search Results Get A Makeover

As Of January 15th, 2020, Google Has Changed The Way The Search Results Appear

Google has rolled out its latest design change on the desktop. The black “Ad” label for paid results and favicons for organic results. I really like the way it looks and maybe that is because every change Google does looks good! Remember Gmail! Anyways, let’s get to the details!

Google tweeted the following as announcement-

It was already live for months on Google mobile results. Here is how the paid and organic results look.

Organic results with favicons
Paid ads results

Google sent out another tweet related to this-

How It Impacts Marketers and what you can do?

This change is bound to impact the way people click (because of the favicons), but the difference, in my opinion, will not be that much. This update is more of a UI enhancement rather any feature update.

In any case, I would recommend people to wait for a few weeks and track the results. Most importantly check the changes in the clickthrough rate. Then accordingly change your strategy.

I would love to hear your thoughts on this.

Are Your Facebook Ads Failing To Run? Facebook’s New Marketing API Is Here To Help You!

Facebook Marketing API 3.2

Facebook has introduced its latest marketing API, V 3.2. According to Facebook, a “new ads run status” with issues is being introduced which will provide details on what is wrong with the Facebook Ad that you have created and what is preventing from getting your Ad delivered to the relevant audience.

How does Facebook API impact the advertisers?

So, you have spent the last 2 hours researching your target audience, developing creatives and ad copies. You are now ready to publish the ad. Here is how the new update is going to help you-

  1. Advertisers will now get alert advertisers when an ad fails to run and deliver.
  2. Not just the alert, but the API will offer more details so that you don’t have to keep guessing where you went wrong!
  3. The API’s “Ads Run” Status, which is the new feature, will list the error codes that prevent the Ads from running.

This is a really good initiative by Facebook. It will definitely help the advertisers to quickly analyze the problem and resolve them. This will particularly help in any time-sensitive campaigns (Christmas and New Year is coming!!)

Developers keep these important points in mind

  1. All versions prior to Marketing API v3.0 will be deprecated on October 23, 2018.
  2. All apps need to be on at least v3.2.
  3. Developers should specify /v3.2/ in your URLs when you call the API.
  4. To see details of changes in v3.2, see the Graph API v3.2 Changelog.
  5. SDK developers should view our latest Java SDK, PHP SDK, Python SDK, or Ruby SDK.

Hope this article helped you in some way! Make sure to let me know what has the new API helped you.

This is one of the basic and best things to understand what your followers like to read. Is it videos, photos, memes, infographics or just funny posts. You can analyze all these after few days of trial and error. And this can be done using the insights section of Facebook analytics.

Content Is Still The King

After you understand what kind of posts are doing good, make sure you post quality content. Before posting you should think that will people share this with their friends? Put yourself in their shoes and THINK!

Post At The Perfect Time

This is also one of the key factors that affect how much your post gets shared. After a few days of trial and error, you will get an idea about when your fans are online the most. This can be seen inside the Posts Report inside the Facebook Analytics.

Use Relevant Tags

Understanding the usage of tagging is really important if you want your post to reach thousands of users. It is vital to understand that stuffing your post with many tags will not do good. On the contrary, it may be counter-productive.

You have to choose carefully whom to tag so that the post may be seen by maximum users. Check which other Facebook pages are most active and tag them.

Cross Promote

One of the classic methods to do unpaid Facebook promotion is sharing your content on other pages, forums, and other relevant mediums. This would allow more users to see what you are posting and ultimately increase your reach.
